JASME 36th Research Presentation Meeting

Japan Academic Society of Mathematics Education held its 36th Research Presentation Meeting which was held from 23rd to 24th June, 2012 at Okayama University. The conference drew Participants various Universities in Japan in the western part of Japan. Participants included University Professors, researchers and students. I attended and made presentation on the first day. I had interacted with former Baba lab members.

第36回全国数学教育学会

こんにちは、M1の益子です。先週岡山大学で開催された全国数学教育学会に行ってきました。主に西日本在住の数学教育を研究している教授・院生また学校の先生が集まり、二日間で約60名の方がそれぞれの研究を発表されました。馬場研から馬場先生含め計8人の先輩方がそれぞれの研究を発表しました。

学会に初めて参加して感じたことは、数学教育でこんなにも多くの研究が行われていること、また日本の数学教育は長い歴史があることを感じました。多くの発表が僕にとって理解するのがむずかしかったですが、今のうちに日本の数学教育をきちんと理解する必要があるのでしっかり勉強しようと再認識でき参加してよかったです。また自分の研究に関する発表も聞くことができたので、今後参考にしたいと思います。

馬場先生含め発表された先輩方、お疲れ様でした。

My first presentation

I was really prepared my first presentation with worries and pressure with many doubts because I was wondering how that time will be really. But also I had hope of returning remarks and advices from my supervisor and experienced lab members.The time came and on 20 I make my presentation. After presentation I was also waiting the comments ,suggestions and questions  some was like to wake up me and to think what I want to do deeply,to know how to write the references,objectives and revise my research topic.I really appreciated that time because through those questions,suggestions I will improve in my research and I think next time it  will be better than the first time.I really thank those who help me during my research.God bless You soo much.

Master Seminar

こんにちは、M１の益子です。先週初めてのMaster　Seminarを終えました。発表終えてとりあえず終わりましたが一段落ついてる場合じゃないな、というのが感想です。

僕の研究テーマは「ザンビア基礎学校における生徒の数学的思考力を促進する授業開発」です。「数学的思考力」が僕の研究のキーワードで「数学的思考力」を今回調べて発表したのですが、僕の解釈が間違いだったということに発表を通して気づきました。全くの調べ不足でした。しっかり理解するべくこれからたくさん論文を読もうと思います。

それと初めての英語でのプレゼンでしたが、もう初めから最後まではちゃめちゃな英語の発表だったと思います。かなり聞きづらかっただろうし、理解しづらかっただろうなと思います。それでも真剣に聞いてくれる先輩方の姿勢に感謝です。次はネイティブ並の流暢さで発表できるよう頑張りたいと思います！

そしてたくさんの質問とアドバイスを下さった先輩方、先生方に感謝します。これからもご指導よろしくお願いします。

Master Seminer

Among many experiences in joining so many courses in IDEC, one of the most challenging course is Master Seminar. 

Joining such course reminds me of my study experience more than 10 years ago. Though I have thought that I have prepared the best, I don't know what kind of situation, criticism, questions or comments would I face in my presentation. I was feeling very lucky however to have such an opportunity to express my ideas about mathematics education.

It is opening my eyes about many phenomena in mathematics education. Through this course, I find out that teaching process and learning process is not as simple as it seems. And in case of Indonesia, there are many things that need to be improved in mathematics education.

I chose the title of Teacher's Knowledge on Content and Teaching in Using Problem Solving in Indonesia. This is a very difficult topic to present, yet it was also very important issue for my country. And of course I don't have too enough confidence to present this topics without consulting with many other people, including my neighbor Ghafur san and Tuswadi san, and other valuable advises and help from Baba sensei and member of his lab. 

Honestly I don't really get used of making presentation. My hands were wet and my heart beat so fast. When I read my presentation, I made many incorrect spellings. And when I finished reading some questions making me aware of possible misunderstanding and also ideas. For instance when Justus asking me about problem solving approach. I thought he was asking of type problem solving classification. But soon after, I understood what he was saying.

Anyway, though I have many difficulties before and during the presentation, I got many important feedback in this presentation and valuable insight for development of my research forward.

ザンビアプログラム勉強会①

ザンビアプログラムでは、 ザンビアから帰国した学生が中心となり、
これからザンビアに派遣される学生に対して、自主的に勉強会を行っています！
 
今学期は馬場研の益子君がザンビアプログラムに参加しており、
第1回目の勉強会として、研究計画についての議論が行われました。
ザンビアから帰国した隊員ならでは意見もあり、ゼミとは違った内容となりました。

今後は、ザンビアの教育政策や教育システム、
授業練習などを行っていく予定です。

Master Seminar Presentation: My impression

　　　According to my feelings this presentation was different than my previous other presentations. I think data analysis is a very crucial issue for conducting a research successfully. Before preparing my presentation I was worried about analysis of data. I think all of the members in our lab are very resourceful. I tried my best to prepare every slide carefully and arrange logically discussing with some of our resourceful lab members. Before my presentation I was little bit worried and felt presser on the other hand I thought that it was a very good opportunity for me to polish everything in my research.  I was hopeful that I will get valuable feedback from the lab members to reconsider many things in my research. 

　　　During my presentation I did not lose my confident. Beside this I tried to read the facial expression of two senses and other lab members. I think questions and answers are more difficult than presentation After Gonzalez san’s comments and questions I felt comfortable. I have learnt many things about conducting a research from the questions and comments of senses and other lab members. I have learnt how to relate every step logically and sequentially. 

   My research tittle is “Teachers’ Perception about Students’ Misconception on Word Problems and Their Influential Factors at Elementary Level in Bangladesh”. After getting feedback now I can realize that I have to change little bit in my research tittle and rearrange guiding questions and objectives. I think it’s a great opportunity for me to make presentation in Baba lab. I do feel proud as members of Baba lab. I am highly pleased to senses and all the members for their comments and questions.
