Just like the
other presentations I have ever made during master seminars in Baba lab, I got
so nervous before I started my presentation, and I felt I was not well prepared
for it until I had started more especially this day because there were four
student who I took as special guests; Two were from Tokyo University of Science and the
others from Hiroshima University in the faculty of Education. I felt so
honoured by their presence in the end; it was just like an international
seminar. After I had finished my research presentation on Secondary Teachers
Beliefs and Their Practice in Malawi: The Case of South East Education Division.
I got comments that added depth to my understanding of how complexities surrounding
classroom interactions that concern my research area. Fascinating questions
were asked from lab members who had redirected my thinking and approach on my
research. Though I had tried beyond the best of my abilities to clarify some of
the issues pertaining to methodology and results I still felt I haven’t gone
even halfway on my research. I am happy because it gave me more motivation and
energy to work on my research to understand Malawian Mathematics Teachers Beliefs
and Practices as they unfolded in my research.
Making presentation in Baba lab is memorable to any students’ life
because of the diversity of thoughts and backgrounds of the members, one feels
what it means to live in an academic space, and I like most.
