たこ焼きパーティ

6月9日の夕方、たこ焼きパーティを実施しました。馬場研のみならずIDECの様々な研究室の院生（主に日本人）が集まりましたが、長くいる院生もこのような交流は初めてとのことでした。自己紹介では研究テーマもだされ、たこ焼き以外にも有益な集会になりました。これから出合ったらお互いあいさつしよう！ということで散会しました。馬場研の面々（MEN MEN）にとってはIDECにくることが益々たのしくなりそうです!?

日本の教育の相対化

小学校教員を目指す学部3年生の授業の1コマをお借りし、ザンビア特別教育プログラムとジャマイカの教育に関する講義が行われました。この取り組みは「日本の教育の相対化」というテーマで、馬場先生とザンビア特別教育プログラムに参加した学生、留学生によって毎年実施されています。

まず海外の教育現場から見た日本の教育ということで、ザンビア特別教育プログラムに参加した学生から発表が行われました。そこでは、ザンビアでの活動内容やザンビアが抱えている教育問題、さらにどのようにその問題を解決しようとしているかなどが紹介されました。

次に留学生から見ら日本の教育ということで、ジャマイカの留学生による発表が行われました。「日本の教員は質問を質問で返す」や「日本の教員は家族がいるのに働きすぎ」など、留学生の視点から見た日本の教育の印象が紹介されました。

参加者からは「知識伝達型の授業と生徒中心の授業のどちらが良いと思うか？」や、「海外の子どもたちのやる気と日本の子どもたちのやる気がどのように異なるか？」などの質問がありました。

これらの学生が少しでも海外の教育に興味を持ってくれればと思います。

It’s My Life

My name is Hashituky. I am a Master student. Everyone can agree that I am a good student and that I like to study. My Research interest is Teacher Knowledge. my goal is to give my contributions to my country in future and to become a respected professional in this research.

I can say that I am a responsible and a hard-working student. Moreover, being a sociable person, I have many friends since I like to communicate with people and get to know new interesting individuals. I enjoy my time in Japan: it is really nice to study and the students are very friendly and ready to help. The atmosphere cannot but make me want to go on. I like to receive and deal with challenging tasks. I am a very enthusiastic student and I think this is a strong point of mine.

My friends say that I am a very funny and an interesting guy with a good sense of humor. As soon as I meet new people who are happy to meet me, I feel extremely comfortable with them. I believe that friendship is one of the most important values in human life. We exchange new ideas, find many interesting things about each other and experience new things. I appreciate friendship and people who surround me.

Life in Japan

Hi, my name is LY TONG; I’m from Cambodia and probably the first Cambodian student in this lab. I am a senior high school teacher in mathematics. I started my teaching profession in late 2007. I came to Japan in August 23, 2013 in Osaka. It was the first time that I travelled abroad, and I considered it the happiest time for me. I came to Hiroshima in early September and started my IDEC life at the beginning of October last year. At IDEC, I experience many new things and make many new friends from different countries. Coming here is kind like the fulfilment of my childhood dream.

The very first impressive thing I experienced in Japan was the helpfulness of Japanese people, and the thing I like the most about Japan is its security. To me, comparing to security in my country, it’s like the worry free life.

先人の知恵wisdom and culture from predecessors

 先日、滋賀県出身の中西先生が広島にお越しの際に、お土産で鮒ずしを頂きました。鮒ずしは“なれずし”の一種で、日本の伝統的な食べ物であり、発酵させることで食べ物を長く保存させる先人の知恵がここにあります。ちなみに、ある書籍によると“腐敗”と“発酵”の違いは人間に害があるかないかだそうです。
     The other day, Nakanishi sensei who is a doctoral student and comes from Shiga prefecture bought us carp sushi. The carp sushi is one of traditional food. You make carp ferment with rice. In order to keep it longer, predecessors came up with this method. In some books, the differentiation between “Decayed” and “Fermented” is defined with whether the thing benefits us or not.

  口に入れた瞬間予想通り二通りの反応が。カンボジアのトンさん以外は、みなさん大変なことに。。。日本の文化に触れた留学生でした。

Before we tried, I had expected their feedbacks and that came true!

One international student who comes from Cambodia only likes it, but others don’t like.

Not only doing research, but they are touching Japanese culture.

自己紹介

　初めまして。今年度から馬場研究室で研究生として研究をさせて頂いています福田博人と申します。初めは英語能力が乏しい私は不安を抱いていたのですが，早1ヵ月経ち，未だに英語力は努力を要しますが，馬場研究室のメンバーの皆さんのバックアップや明るさのお陰で楽しく生活させて頂いています。本当に心より感謝申し上げます。早く英語力を身に付け，他のメンバーの皆さんのように世界へ羽ばたければと思っています。

　また，私の関心事は「統計教育」です。今日社会を鑑みると，統計教育は世界的な流行ですが，これを流行で終わらせてはいけないと強く感じています。情報化社会は将来，更なる情報化が予想されるからです。ですので，流行で終らせないためにも，手先だけの研究ではなく，統計教育を支える基盤的研究を行っていきたいです。そしてそれは，カリキュラム開発に要約することができると考えています。しかし，まだまだ研究不足ですので，今後の研究活動を通して沢山の方々と議論を通し，楽しく研究できればと思っています。どうぞご指導・ご鞭撻の方を宜しくお願い致します。

 
　最後になりました。今はまだ足を引っ張ってしまう存在になるかもしれませんが，いずれ必ず研究室で他のメンバーを引っ張る存在として貢献できるように努力をしてまいりますので，これから宜しくお願いします。

Introduction

Hi. I am Lloyd Munroe from Jamaica. I am a teacher by profession. I began my teaching career in Jamaica in 1999 and have taught at both primary and secondary level.

I came to Japan on October 4^th, 2011. I love Japan. The people are friendly and the environment is clean. I have made a lot of friends here.

I moved to Hiroshima in March of this year (2014) in order to continue my study at IDEC. My goal for this research is to make a valid contribution to the development of teaching mathematics not only in Jamaica but also all parts of the world.

I consider myself as a lifelong learner. I am interested in many topics especially technology and science.
