Master Seminar Presentation

I am currently studying curriculum development and had to make a presentation on the 30th June, 2012 on the progress of my research. It was a good opportunity for me to get feedback having been working on it for some time. Having listened to a lot of good presentations previously, I was not sure of what to expect. More so that my presentation came just after Mr Nkhatas’ which by any standards was quiet remarkable. I had no problem with the presentation, which I did without any pressure. I felt very unease at the start of the question and answer session, when people seemed to have no questions for me. It seemed as though they disapproved of the presentation. As I was playing with my pen I was wondering what was going on in their heads. Relief came when Mr Gonzales raised his hand to ask the first question. From then on I got a vast amount of comments and questions from the experienced members of the Lab.

My research title is Analysis of High School Mathematics Curriculum in Zambia: Alignment of Objectives with Content. In the development of a curriculum, the objectives are the basis on which materials are selected and content is outlined. Various aspects of the educational program are a means to accomplish basic educational purposes. Hence, if we are to study an educational program systematically and intelligently we must first be sure as to the educational objectives aimed at. My research analyses the curriculum objectives and how the content selection aids at achieving them.

Several thoughts were expressed by the professors and the members of Baba Lab on areas that needed clarifications and improvements. I really appreciate all the questions and comments, and will take them into consideration. Thank you very much.
