合同忘年会

 

 

馬場研究室、池田研究室、清水研究室の合同忘年会が開催されました。

 

馬場研究室では開発途上国の数学教育を、

池田研究室と清水研究室では理科教育に関する研究を行っています。

 

国際協力の文脈では、理数科教育と一括りにされることも多く、

両教科に共通する課題も多くみられます。

 

今後も研究内容を互いに共有し、

理数科教育の質的向上に努められればと思います。



「パーティー＠Immacleeさん家」

 

こんにちは、M1の益子です。

先日、Immaculeehさん家でパーティーを開いてくれました。

この日のためにImmaculeeさんがみんなのためにルワンダ料理を一日かけて作ってくれたのです。

Thank you so much!!!

作ってくれたのはチャパティ(クレープを少し厚くしたような料理)、ソンベ（カレーのような料理）、ビーンズ、チキン料理と4品も作ってくれました。

なんとそれだけでなく、MwansaさんとCloudeさんもシマを作ってImmaculeeさん家に持ってくれたのです。

なんて優しんだーーー!!!!!

招待された日本人たちは終始、留学生の暖かいご飯と心の暖かさで満たされた一日でした。

Winter.

Now is my first time to experience this cold time. It is too cold but still we survive and are good experience in our life to share in our family like snowing and the use more than 3 cots at the same time for covering.

So I wish you to enjoy this time which is hard for me but wish to pass well. It will be also my first time to start New Year outside my country and far from my family so I would like to wish you Happy New Year 2013. I’m wondering how I will celebrate this Christmas day and New Year!!! This is my last time for writing this blog in this year so I first of all thank everyone who helps me in my studies in my life in this Country and thank You for your kindness and different advices. God bless and help you to start New Year in peace and prosperity in whatever you plan to do and success in all. At the end of this year it's a time for looking back on 2012 and taking a moment to consider some of our achievements and struggles in order to enjoy and improve our study. This New Year let take time for looking ahead, for thinking about our research, and for focusing on making better improvement than the one we are leaving behind. Happy New Year again and I wish all of us the Successes in this coming Year of 2013

ルイボスティー

こんにちは。

みんな日記で寒い寒いと書いていますが、本当に西条は特に寒いです。

なので、あったかいお茶ばっかり飲んでいます。

写真にあるのはルイボスティーですが、これはノンカフェインだし美容にもいいそうです。

ちなみに、乾燥も気になるので加湿器も買いました。

おかげで生活がすごく楽しくなりました。

 

馬場研には、女性が3名（男性9名）しかいないので、こういった美容だとかキャピキャピした話があまりできません・・・。

筋肉を鍛えてムキムキになる話とか、お腹すいた、とかばかりです。

 

ただ、女性が少ないのもあり、みなさんにものすごく優しくしてもらえます。

 

数学教育の分野自体に女性が少ないのかもしれないですが、

もっともっともっと女の人が増えればいいなぁ。と思っています。

ペット

最近寒くなってきましたね～。
そのせいか１１月は２回熱をだしました。こんな寒い中、動物っていいなーって思います。
だって毛皮着てるんですよ、毛皮。今日は、そんな毛皮を着ている我が家のペット、ミスター（名前）を紹介したいと思います。ミスターはもう少しで２年になるハムスターの雄で、干しブドウが大好きな可愛いやつです。

  そして妻の実家の龍之介。寒いからといって布団にはいり、人を見れば遊べとばかりに噛みついてくる黒柴です。次生まれ変われるならば私は龍之介になりたいと思うほど幸せそうです。

いや～、動物っていいですね～

「スバディさん夏の始まり」

僕たちの研究室にはインドネシア出身のスバディさんがいます。

スバディさんは少し抜けていることころがあるけど、すごくいい人です。

 

この前パチンコの話になって、ジャパニーズギャンブルだと説明すると、

日本人はまじめだからギャンブルとかしないでしょ。

と言っていました。

 

いやいや、中にはまじめじゃない人もいっぱいいるよと言うと、

そんなことはない。日本人はみんなまじめだ。

と言っていました。

 

なんだか変に勘違いしてるなーと思いながら、スバディさんの手元を見るとかき氷のシロップがありました。

あれ、もう秋も終わって冬に入ろうとしているのにどうしたんだろうと思っていました。

スバディさん、それ何？と聞くと、

 

すごくおいしいです。

と答えました。

スバディさん、それはシロップだから飲んだらだめだよ！というと、

 

でもすごくおいしいです。

と答えました。

ニヤッと笑った口元には虫歯が光っていました。

シロップの飲みすぎか、はたまた歯磨きをさぼっているのか。

スバディさん、今週はゴミ捨て当番ですよ。

Indonesia’s A New Curriculum

After many considered too many load in the content and many disparities in implementation level, the Education Level Based Curriculum or KTSP would be replaced with a new one. The new curriculum however would be introduced possibly in 2013.

The Education Level Based Curriculum or KTSP has been introduced since middle of last decade, but along the way this curriculum has harvested many concerns especially related its heavy load for the elementary school level.

Another concern also due to teachers’ quality which is considered to be remain unimproved. KTSP allows teacher to interpret and to implement the process of learning by themselves while referring to the standard of competence and process and standard of passing (Standar Kompetensi, Standar Proses dan Standar Kelulusan) endorsed by the Ministry of National Education.

But, in the implementation, many teachers are considered to have less of competence and professionalism in applying and elaborating these standards into an effective process of teaching and learning.

The new curriculum additionally gives more emphasize on learning process and directional for character building in each level of education. Though reducing the load for the elementary level, in secondary level, the hours for mathematics, science and bahasa Indonesia will be added.

もう12月になりました。今期が始まって、もう2ヵ月。作業は、ほとんど進んで
いません。どうしようね～、という感じです。

それはそうと、12月にもなれば寒さも増してきます。この寒さが気持ちいいとき
もあれば、ただ寒いだけだな～というときもあります。

風邪をひかないように、体調管理をしっかりしたいです。

Bangladesh is not a major sporting power in any sense around the world. But sports and games form an indispensable part of Bangladeshi's life. In everywhere around the country one might see boys playing football, or playing cricket.

Now cricket is the most popular sport in Bangladesh. In 2000, the Bangladeshi cricket team achieved test cricket status from ICC. There are only nine test playing countries in the world. Bangladeshi girls cricket team also playing very well in the international cricket. In Bangladesh second popular game is football. Although Bangladeshi football team is not strong enough in the world but it is very popular everywhere around the country.

In accordance to the popularity there are many other popular games include  football,  hockey, tennis, badminton, handball, volleyball, chess, carrom games, and kabadi ( a seven-a-side team-sport played without a ball or any other equipment, which is the national sport of Bangladesh)

ザンビア国別研修に参加して

　ザンビアから6名の研修生が日本の数学教育を学びに来ています。私が主に携わるのは指導案作りです。今回の研修のメインテーマは「教材研究」なので、題材観や指導観などを深めることになります。

　

 

　上の写真は2年生の分数の導入の指導案を考える際、研修生が日本の教科書を参考にしている姿です。

　今日1時間ほど彼らの様子を観させていただきました。教科書は、リンゴを切る→いろいろな紙をおる→テープをおる、という流れになっています。多くの研修生がテープを折ることから授業を構成しました。「どうしてか」と質問してみると「テープは具体物であるから」「リンゴを切るのはあぶないから」という答えでした。日常の生活経験とつなげることが大切ということはわかっていても、実際に授業を考える場面になると生活経験には目が向かないことがわかりました。

これから一週間かけて、附属小での研究授業「6年　資料の整理―平均」にむけて指導案を完成させます。日本での研修が少しでもザンビアの数学教育に役立てられるよう応援したいと思います。

My Visit to Zambia

After staying in Japan for one year I, on 4th October, 2012 headed to my country Zambia. It was a long journey but thank God I travelled safely. The plane touched down as scheduled and my family was on hand to welcome me. It was very emotional for my children who could not understand why I had been away from them for so long. The weekend that followed was spent bonding and sharing of stories from both ends.

On the Monday that followed 8th October, 2012 I went to pay a courtesy call at David Kaunda National Technical High School which is my work place. I met the Head Teacher and most of the Teachers who gave me a warm welcome. After that I ventured to do what I set out done. It was challenging to get people in offices even when with appointments because of National Examinations that were been carried out.

Days passed and it came that I had to get back to Japan. It is never easy to part with the people you love, but it was inevitable that this had to pass. The day was 12th November, 2012 when I embarked on the journey back to Japan.

I arrived to what I would consider my second home 15th November, 2012. The day that followed my colleagues and friends organised a wonderful welcome back party which made me feel at home away from home. All in all it was a good and fruitful trip. 

 

Sake Festival

Sake Festival is one of the biggest festivals in Saijo I attend. I went to the festival and I was surprised because it was my first time to see the many people in Saijo Town and it was like amazing time and known some Japanese Culture and food because there was a lot of foods unfortunately no Japanese for explaining to every events.SO first we walk around the Sake industry where we had one of JICA Staff explaining some big events about SAKE. One which surprised me again is natural water using for making Sake and I just drink at that water. It was amazing time and we did parade with some international and Japanese students from Hiroshima and Primary students with drums and walking jumping and said (Sore: no meaning).

Many Japanese from different companies and journals write about that event and many pictures and saying it was international festival.

Time was short for us to walk around free because after parade I was very tide and went back home but I really appreciated that particular time. If someone knows more than me please you can explain more to me.Like the main activities in those following pictures and dancing.

RECSAM

先日マレーシアにあるThe Southeast Asian Ministers of Education Organization, Regional Centre for Education in Science and Mathematics (通称：SEAMEO　RECSAM)に見学に行ってきました。

RECSAM は東南アジアの国々の理数科教育の質の向上のため1967年に設立され、主な活動として(a)研修、(b)教育調査・研究、(c)教育コンサルタント業、(d)理数科教育のワークショップの実施を行っています。

 

 

　今回はコロンボプランの一環として行われている教員研修を見学させて頂きました。参加者はブータン、モルディブ、スリランカ、パキスタン、マレーシア、フィリピン、ブルネイ、イランなどの国から来られており、ICTをどのように授業に取り入れるかについて学んでおられました。

　研修を専門に行っている機関だけあって、研修内容が体系だっており、また相手のニーズも上手く反映されており、援助機関からの評価が高いのも納得させられました。

45th Annual Conference of the Japan Society of Mathematical Education

During the past weekend (November 10-11, 2012), the 45th Annual Conference of the Japan Society of Mathematical Education took place at Nara University of Education. This conference is the biggest research-oriented academic meeting of mathematics education in Japan, and it was a great opportunity for all the participants to attend lectures focusing on up-to-date teaching and learning issues on mathematics education, to meet and discuss with top-of-the-line Japanese researchers and mathematics educators, to meet with old friends and colleagues, and to visit historic and majestic places at Nara, a city full of history, beauty, and deer. Personally, I just had time to visit two places: the Gojū-no-tō (五重塔) five-story pagoda at Kōfuku-ji Temple (興福寺) on the night of November 9 (thanks to the recommendation of a group of old people staying at the same hotel I was, who told me to visit the pagoda at night, because of the illumination); and the Tōdai-ji Temple (東大寺) with its wonderful Great Buddha Hall (大仏殿), its 14.98-meter tall bronze statue of the Buddha Vairocana (the world's largest), and deer (regarded as messengers of the gods in the Shinto religion) roaming freely in the area, on the late afternoon of November 11 (thanks to the invitation made to me by Nonakaさん, Haradaさん and Nakawaさん). By the way, both places are two of the eight "Historic Monuments of Ancient Nara" listed by UNESCO World Heritage Site.

 

Our academic supervisor, Professor Takuya Baba, and five of our current lab members, made presentation this time: Professor Baba did a presentation entitled “Research issues from the viewpoint of values in mathematics education (数学教育における価値の視座から見た研究課題)”; Mitsue Arai made a presentation entitled “Relation between definitions and computational activities in geometry education through textbook analysis (図形教育における定義と計算的活動の関係—教科書分析を通して—)”; Isao Shimada made a presentation entitled “Research on the formation of social values in Arithmetic Education (1): Focusing on selected social open-ended questions (算数教育における社会的価値観の育成に関する研究(1)—社会的オーペンエンドな問題の中の選択問題に焦点を当てて—)”; Hiroshi Ishii made a presentation entitled “A study on mathematics teachers’ motivation in Zambian lesson study (ザンビア授業研究における数学教師の動機づけに関する一考察)”; Masato Kosaka made a presentation entitled “On mathematical connections: Focusing on “connections among subject areas” and “connections with the society” (数学的なつながりについて—「教科間のつながり」と「社会とのつながり」に着目して—)”; and Orlando González made a presentation entitled “Survey on Japanese secondary school mathematics teachers' statistical knowledge for teaching: Focusing on teaching of variability-related concepts (中等数学科教員が有する「教えるための統計的知識」に関する調査研究―「ばらつき」に関連した概念の指導に注目して―)”. Our lab delegation in the 45th Annual Conference of the Japan Society of Mathematical Education was completed by Tomoe Harada and Toshikazu Nonaka.

 

In addition, we also had the chance to meet during the weekend with former members of our lab, such as Chikara Kinone (now a professor at Miyazaki University) and Nagisa Nakawa (née Shibuya, now a professor at Tokyo Future University, who also made a presentation entitled “Basic research for mathematics education development in the Republic of Zambia (2): Focusing on the degree of learning and issues in 1-digit-by-1-digit multiplication problems of children in basic school at Kabwe, Central Province (ザンビア共和国の数学教育開発のための基礎的調査(2)—中央州バブヴェのある基礎学校における子どもたちの1桁の乗法の習熱度と課題—)”).

This annual meeting offered to all of us a unique learning opportunity, as well as a chance to improve our current researches by receiving constructive comments and feedback from Japanese specialists. I hope that the next year, during the 46th Annual Conference of the Japan Society of Mathematical Education that will take place at Utsunomiya University, the Baba-lab delegation will be bigger than the one at this annual meeting, with more members making presentations and exposing the good work we do here at Hiroshima University for the sake of mathematics education.

出前講座

またまた出前講座で中学校に行ってきました！

何か活動を含めた講座がいいとの希望で、「貿易ゲーム」というゲームを取り入れました。

そこから、世界で起こっている事や、開発途上国と呼ばれる国の人の気持ちを少しでも実感しでもらえたらと思い、このゲームを取り入れました。

中学生のみなさんの反応や、活動の積極性がすごかったです！

私は、みんな国際協力のために海外にいくべきだ！とは思ってないのですが、知らないまま通り過ぎていくより、知って国際協力の道を可能性として持っていていいんじゃないのかと思ってます。

だから、中学生の皆さんにはできるだけ知らないであろう事を話したり、感じてもらえたらいいなと思って話しました。

すっごくおもしろかったです！来週も行ってくるので楽しんできます～～～！！

Trip to Hiroshima city

アパカバー、こんにちはM1の益子です。アパカバーはインドネシア語で「お元気ですか」という意味です。最近スバディさんに教えてもらいました。

スバディさんが今持っている携帯からスマートフォンに変更したいという頼みを受け、広島市にあるヤマダ電機に行ってきました。

乗務室を見たことがなかったらしく、乗務員室の中をいろいろと観察したり、乗務員室から見える前方を眺めています。電車好きみたいです。

スバディさん「スマートフォン待ってろよ・・・・」

ヤマダ電機に行ったのですが、いろいろあって結局携帯を変更しないことになりました。残念でしたね。

また留学生の携帯を変更する場に初めて立ち会いました。通訳にとても苦労し、スバディさんには迷惑かけました。変更できなかったのはまさか僕のせいでは!?　いやそれはないはず。とにかくもっと勉強せねば・・・

今回の旅はスバディさんと僕の二人だけじゃなく、スバディさんの奥さんと子供のラフィと奥さんの友達の5人で行きました。

息子のラフィ。ラフィはスバディさんにそっくりです。特に目がそっくりです。

うどん屋で食事していた時の様子。ラフィもお母さんには素直です。ちなみにインドネシアでもうどんはポピュラーらしいです。

「テナー！！」

インドネシア語で「おいしい」という意味です。ラフィはうどんを食べる最中、常に「テナー！！」と連呼していました。

ラフィは終日自動販売機に夢中でした。自動販売機を見つける事に突然走りだし、指差したり、いじったりします。走り出すタイミングがわからないので、スバディさんもいつもラフィがいつ走り出すかわからないのでいつも気を使っています。

 

ブックオフで奥さんとその友達が買い物の間、スバディさんと僕でラフィを見ていたのですが、ずっと走り回っててレジの中まで入って走り回るので捕まえるのが大変でした。走った後なのでものすごく美味しそうにりんごジュースを飲んでいます。

 

原爆ドームの前のベンチでの写真。　旅のもうひとつの目的地、原爆ドームにやってきました。スバディさんの奥さんが今まで来たことがなかった為来ることになりました。ちなみに今回が僕も初めてです・・・。

旅の当初の目的は果たせなかったのですが、それ以外でとても楽しむことができ、またラフィとも友達になれてよかったです。またいつか行きましょう！

最近のデジカメ事情2

最近のデジカメは高級機ブームなのか、デジタル一眼と呼ばれるものがだんだん定着してきたようです。よく聞かれることとして、一眼と普通のデジカメの違いは何か？ということがあります。非常にシンプルにわかりやすく言うと、光を受けれる大きさが全然違うのです。もちろんいろいろな違いがあるのでそれだけではないのですが、これが結構重要な違いになってます。当たり前ですが、光がたくさん受けられるほうがより鮮明できれいな写真になります。では、絶対一眼がいいかというと別にそんなこともないです。確かに趣味でやっている方なんかは一眼のほうがきれいなんで大体は一眼を使われていますが、我々が普段使うのは学会で写真を撮ったり、集合写真を撮ったりくらいだと思もいます。そんなときには、記録できればいいのでそこまできれいな写真を期待してもいないです。そこで、大学院生におすすめなカメラの条件をいくつか考えてみました。
１．あまり大きすぎない（一眼レフは学会に持っていったら邪魔です）
２．学会などの室内が多いので暗い所に強い（裏面照射CMOS＋F値2.6以下くらい）
３．室内が多いので広角である（広角24㎜～28㎜くらい。）
４。オート機能がしっかりしている（各社のパンフレットで最初に載っているカメラについてるオートがついてる。）

これが今私の考える大学院生に向くカメラです。また、２と条件が合わないのですが、ズームの効く機種もいいかなと思います。もし、同じ研究室の人の発表をアップで撮りたいなど思うときは、ズーム機種でないと撮れません。その場合は上記２の条件を少し変えて、裏面照射CMOS＋光学10倍以上のものがいいでしょう。高倍率ズーム機種のF値はどうしても3を超えてしまいます。

参考までに最近売っている中、そこまで高くないものではこんなカメラがおすすめです。
富士フィルム　F800EXR、F770EXR　
特徴：光学20倍ズーム＋裏面照射CMOS＋オートが優秀＋写真の色合いがきれい
ソニー　WX170、WX100　
特徴：光学10倍ズーム＋裏面照射CMOS＋小さい＋動画がきれい＋暗い所に強い
オリンパス　XZ-1（高級機）
特徴：イメージセンサーが大きい＋レンズが明るい（F1.8）＋画質がとてもきれい＋暗い所に強い

まだまだいろいろありますが、個人的にぱっと思い浮かんだものでこんな感じです。

せっかくの学会や現地調査、いい思い出を残せるよう、細かいことですがカメラ選びも重要かなとおもいます。

Master seminar

こんにちは、餃子が有名の栃木県宇都宮市出身、M１の益子です。いつか馬場研のメンバーに餃子を作って振舞おうと思いつつ、全く出来ていないでいます。

本日、馬場研に入ってから二回目のマスターゼミでの発表がありました。僕の研究テーマは「ザンビア基礎学校における数学的な考え方を促進する授業開発」で、今回はザンビアの数学的な考え方をどのようなものか分析して発表しました。

ザンビアのシラバスを分析してみたのですが、数学的な考え方はあまり多く見つかりませんでした。数学的な考え方に関する記述は少なく、重要であるという記述はありますが、実際はそれほど重要視されていない、というのが現時点での分析です。しかし日本の数学的な考え方の観点から分析したので、偏った分析になっていたかもしれません。今後は日本の観点からではなく違った視点から分析して、より明確にしていきたいと思っています。

今回も馬場先生をはじめ、みなさんから多くの意見・アドバイスを頂いたのでそれに基づいて研究を進めていこうと思います。
