修士課程修了します

昨日、修士課程無事修了のお知らせを頂きました。
馬場先生はじめ、多くの先生方、院生の皆さまに感謝申し上げます。

終わった―！！！

とならないのは求職中であることや他にやるべきことがあるからでしょうが、まずはお疲れ様でしたと言いたいです。

今日はIDECで学んだこと、自分自身足りなかったことをまとめてみました。誰かの参考になれば幸いです。

■IDECで学んだこと
①将来の展望と覚悟
自分は「将来、国際協力を仕事に出来たらいいな」という憧れをもってIDECの門を叩きました(今思えば、甘い！甘すぎる！！)。バングラデシュでのインターン、自信が持てない研究、落ち続けている就職活動。楽しいというよりかは大変だった2年間でしたが、これらを通して最終的に「国際協力を仕事にしようという覚悟と努力」と「仕事上の自分のテーマ」が必要であり、「今自分が出来る精一杯を真剣白羽で取り組む中に道は開かれる」ということに気づかせて頂きました。

②相手を意識したコミュニケーション
コミュニケーションというと会話が想起されますが、ここでは特に書面でのコミュニケーションを指します。恥ずかしながら、これまで読み手を強く意識して書いたことがありませんでした。論文執筆や国際協力関係の就職活動で、順序立てて論理的に物事を文書で表す必要性と実際に書く手ほどきを周囲の人から受けました。この書く技術は、実践しなければ技術が向上しません。引き続き、技術を磨いていきたいです。

■足りなかったこと
①研究とは何かという問いを持つこと
「研究とは何か」や「論文の書き方」など、書籍や情報から得たものを自分で深める必要がありました。特に関連研究領域における、自分の研究の位置づけが難しい！

②行動規範のエビデンスを見つける
諸先輩の受け売りですが、自分の核となる入門書が見つかれば良かったなと感じました。入門書とは、仕事をする上で行動規範のエビデンスとなりうるものと捉えています。例えば、ある心理学者の理論を基に教授法改善プログラムを考えるとか。自分の研究は「教師の成長」をテーマでしたが、「成長」について掘り下げるべく、現在何冊か読んでおります。

Reflecting for Common Seminar during 12 years

送辞

 

岩崎秀樹先生、2003年からの12年間、本当に貴重な機会を与えて頂き有難うございました。この共通ゼミは、私の学生の成長にとってはもちろんですが、私の成長にとっても、非常に重要な機会となりました。本日は、最終回ということで、修了して現在この場にいない修了生の分まで、そして地球上に広がるIDECファミリー（日本人はもちろんのこと、Bangladesh, Cambodia, China, Ghana, Indonesia, Jamaica, Malawi, Mongolia, Myanmar, Nigeria, Rwanda, Thailand, Venezuela, Zambia：14カ国）の分まで、お礼を申し上げたいと思います。

 

あまり長くなってもいけませんので、IDECにまつわる話とこの共通セミナーにまつわる話を一つずつして、送辞とさせていただきたいと思います。

 

変化のスピードがますます速くなり、21世紀もはや変化しないことが貴重なことのように思えます。変化（成長）し続けることは、IDECにおられたころにお聞きした「永遠の未完」（求め続ける精神）が、ある意味で世界的・外的に生起しつつあるような時代だという気がします。1970年代にフレイレやイリイチはこのような時代が来ると想定したでしょうか。彼らはその時代精神の中で、批判的リテラシーや脱学校などを唱えたのだと思います。それがある意味で現実になりつつある現在、そしてそのような影響を先端的に受けつつあるIDECは、永遠の未完を当時から一段階進んだ形で、受け止めたいと願っています。平林先生から岩崎先生と引きつがれ、そしてこの共通ゼミを通してIDECのゼミ生にも共有された、不変な「変わり続ける姿勢」、もしくは変わり続ける「不変の姿勢」を、今後も、その学的孫・ひ孫たちが世界にひろまって、さらなる子孫を形成していけるようなそのような数学教育の大家族として、永遠の未完を継続していきたいと思います。

 

次に、このコモンセミナーについてです。岩崎先生が教育学研究科に移動されて以降、12年間続けてきました。ここでは数学教育の内と外とがクラインボトルのように接合する場です。恐らく先に述べた国際的なファミリーも時空を超えてこの場につながっている気がします。時には数学教育の話題をはるかに超えて、本当にいろいろな多くの話がなされました。心理学、認識論的な議論ももちろんですが、Classicsを含めた歴史的議論からは現在につながる道筋を議論しましたし、Math for allやEquityなどの観点から社会的な議論も多数行いました。それは数学教育が、数学という普遍性の高い学問を背景においているとの同時に、教育という社会的な営為の中にも深く根ざしているからだと思います。本日で物理的なコモンセミナーは終了ですが、かつての引退の言葉ではないですが「コモンセミナーの精神は永遠に不滅です」といいたいと思います。

 

いずれここにいる全てのメンバーはそれぞれの持ち場に分散していきます。その時にここでの議論・永遠のみかんという精神を思い出し、引き継いで行って貰いたいと思います。

 

岩崎先生、先生の伝えようとされた精神はまだ完全とはいえませんが、確実に日本および世界の各地で芽を吹き始めています。ぜひこの先も期待を持って、見守っていただければと存じます。

 

措辞ではございますが、送辞とさせていただきます。

 

Words of appreciation

 

Prof. Hideki Iwasaki, Thank you very much for giving a precious opportunity during 13 years since 2003 till 2015. This common seminar is of course an important opportunity for my students but also for my growth as well. This is the last session. So Including all IDEC family members who are not present after the completion of the course, I would like to heartfelt thanks to you. IDEC family now expands all over the globe including Bangladesh, Cambodia, China, Ghana, Indonesia, Jamaica, Malawi, Mongolia, Myanmar, Nigeria, Rwanda, Thailand, Venezuela, Zambia (14countries).

 

Let me tell you briefly two stories as a sign of appreciation. One is related to IDEC and another related to this common seminar.

 

I think the changing speed is getting more and more faster in the 21^st century, and the thing which don’t change become a sort of precious. To continue to change (grow) is “incomplete forever” (pursuing attitude or spirit), which I heard from you in IDEC. I suppose that it is occurring in the global society in a sense. In 1970s, Freire and Illichi have thought about this condition would come. They proposed theory of critical literacy and de-schooling in the middle of such era時代精神. In a sense, those theories become reality now and IDEC are under influence of a tip of such transformation. The IDEC with such influence will take them as a challenge and wish “incomplete forever” to be internalized and to lifted up to higher levels. From Hirabayashi sensei through Iwasaki sensei, all the members (ex-members and current members) of this common seminar, share the common ideal through this common seminar. It is ever-changing “unchanged attitudes” or non-changing “changing attitudes”. From now we would like to form the academic children, grandchildren all over Japan and the world. In return, they will develop grandchildren and great grandchildren to continue “incomplete forever” as a big family of mathematics education.

 

Next, regarding this common seminar. Since Prof. Iwasai moved to this graduate school of education, this common seminar continued for 12 years. Here, this is the place where internal and external sides will be connected like Klein bottle. Perhaps, the international extended family is also connected to this place beyond time and space. We discuss various points sometime even beyond mathematics education. Psychology, epistemological discussion is of course done. We also discussed historical aspects of mathematics education including the Classics. There are a lot of discussion over social aspects such as Math for all and Equity. All these are related to mathematics education research. It is because the research is well founded in mathematics as universal discipline in its nature. And it is also rooted in the education as social endeavor, I suppose. Today, the common seminar is physically finished, but I would like to say “The spirit of this common seminar will never end” by paraphrasing the retiring message of famous athlete.

 

By and then, all the members who are present today, will find their own place to live elsewhere. I would all of you to remember these days and spirit (attitudes) of incomplete forever and to share the sprit with next generation.

 

Prof. Iwasaki, we have not completely mastered the spirit which you would like to convey to us. However, certainly some possibilities start growing all over japan and all over the world. Please do pay attention to this growth of extended family and sometimes give your advices and suggestions to your family members.
