ザンビア特別教育プログラムのミニ説明会が新宿であります。
馬場研究室の修了生が体験発表（個別相談対応）のため参加予定です。
プログラムに興味ある方、プログラムはそれなりでも馬場研究室に興味ある方、どちらさまも近郊であればこの機会をご活用ください。直接相談できます。

内容：「青年海外協力隊/日系社会青年ボランティアの体験談＆説明会」における分科会にてミニ説明会を実施します

ザンビア特別教育プログラムとは：
広島大学大学院国際協力研究科（IDEC）教育文化専攻博士課程前期では、学生の身分のまま青年海外協力隊に参加し、派遣中も教員の指導を受け、その活動を修士号取得に必要な単位として認定するプログラムを開講しています。通称、ザンビア・プログラムなどと呼ばれています。馬場研からの参加者もいます。

Some Have Gone and Others Have Come

In Japan, generally speaking, it's absolutely neither the season for cherry blossoms, nor the one for sayonara and hajimemasite.But... here is a bit different story.
Oyunaa san left for Tokyo today.

She finished her study here and she looked like she achieved something in Japan for two years and is ready to go home now.
That is why I had some mixed feeling with some sadness and happiness for her future.
We promised that some of us may go to her country for some reserach in the future.
I strongly wish her good luck for her success there.

Also, we have received new comers in our lab, Matsuyama san, Watanabe san, and Kousaka san.
They brought some kind of fresh wind from outside and I do hope our lab mates will have stronger interaction with one another.

Another news, a Zambian gentleman from University of Zambia has come to learn as student here, which really made me excited.
I expect that I would be able to learn many things from him.


I reckon this season in IDEC is really the season for cherry blossom.

Eid Mubarak

Today 1st October the day of Eid, in this day Muslims gather early in the morning in outdoor locations or mosques to perform the Eid prayer. This consists of a sermon followed by a short congregational prayer.

At the end of Ramadan, Muslims throughout the world observe a joyous three-day celebration called Eid al-Fitr (the Festival of Fast-Breaking).



After the Eid prayer, Muslims usually scatter to visit various family and friends, give gifts (especially to children), and make phone calls to distant relatives to give well-wishes for the holiday. These activities traditionally continue for three days. In most Muslim countries, the entire 3-day period is an official government/school holiday.

国際ワークショップ

先週は、アメリカのミズーリ大学からBarbala Reys先生、Robert Reys先生という著名な数学教育学者を招いて行われた国際ワークショップに参加させて頂きました。

ワークショップと懇親会を通して終始感じた先生方のお人柄に、感動しっぱなしの澁谷でした。
ワークショップで先生方がお話されたNumber Senseですが、途上国の生徒にも多く当てはまることがあると思いました。

例えば、このような問題
「7/8＋12/13　を見積もりで解きなさい。」

多くの子供が、８を13の共通分母を探してから、手間や時間のかかる計算をして正確な答えを出そうとする、という結果が出ていました。

両方の数が１に近いということを考えると、答えはおよそ２だ、とすぐにわかる問題です。

自分の子供の頃を思い出しても、見積もりや概算といった算数の単元は苦手でした。
あるアルゴリズムに則って計算を規則正しく行う、という算数の一面が大好きだったので、違う角度から問題を考えるということができなかったのかもしれません。

一方で、算数の宿題に出されていたドリル計算も思い出しました。
3桁×4桁、4桁×5桁といった桁の大きな掛算の筆算を、何の意味も見出せず、ただ正しい答えを出すためだけに（正しい答えを得るという達成感を得るために）計算をしていました。
ザンビアの子供に教えているとき、生徒が、２桁×1桁の計算をしているときでも、すごく巨大な数を答えたり、小さすぎる答えをだしたり、見積もりができない場面が多々ありました。

そのような場面で、なんでだろう、なんでわからないんだろう、となんとなく思うことが、隊員時代よくありました。

ただ、今回のお話を聞いて、先進国の子供でも、ザンビアの子供と同じようなことを困難に抱えていると知ることができました。

今回のお話は、私が研究しているSLEにも当てはまることでしたので、非常に勉強になりました。先生方、ありがとうございました。

Fasting

It's the fasting month for the Muslims.
We Muslim people fast once a year for a month.
This month is called Ramadan.
The Islamic festivals are celebrated according to lunar calendar.
A month's fasting don't mean we abstain from food and drinks for a month completely.
Actually we don't have meal during the daytime but we eat after sunset until dawn.
We usually get up early, these days around 4am;
we eat some food that time, pray and again go to bed or go out for a walk.

The Purpose of FastingGod teaches us about fasting in the Holy Quran.
"O you who believe in God!
Fasting is prescribed for you as it was prescribed for those before you, so that hopefully you will have piety".
In this verse and again at the end of the passage Allah clearly states the reason why He has ordered us to fast.
Our fasting does not benefit Allah, neither does He want us to go hungry or thirsty or prevent us from enjoying the permitted pleasures of this world that He has provided for us.
Indeed He wants to raise us to the ranks of pious people.
Holy Quran was revealed during Ramadan.
The Bible, the Torah, the Psalms of David, and the Scrolls of Abraham were all revealed in this month.
To honor this we should increase our study and recitation of the Holy Quran during Ramadan.

It is very sorry to say that I am not taking fasting for whole month because Now I am here in Japan and I live alone so that sometime its difficult for me to wake up at that mid night not only that some time I am really very busy with my study.

ザンビアへの第一歩！

とうとうザンビアへの第一歩である技術補完研修が始まり、今日で５日目を迎えました。
東京の広尾という六本木の近くで、来年1月から各国に理数科教師として派遣される人たちが集まっての研修です。
特徴的で積極的な人たちが集まっており、同じ日本人でもいろんな人がいることを改めて感じています。

僕の生活は
朝7時起床。
鍋で米を炊きます。
これは僕の朝ごはんと昼ごはんになります。
こちらで節約のため１ｋｇ買いました。
鍋炊きはうまい！！
9時30分登校。
宿は東京広尾の駅から徒歩15分程度のところにあります。
10時～12時研修生による授業練習（一人40分）。
12時～13時昼ごはん（朝炊いた米と適当なおかず）
13時～17時30分研修生による授業練習。
18時帰宅。
晩御飯のパスタを食べ、風呂に。
20時～26時　指導案作成（1日に授業が2回あることもありました）
といったような規則正しくも苦しい生活をしていました。

特に苦しかったのが指導案作成でした。
先生の指導も回を増すごとに厳しくなり、全く手を抜けず夜な夜な指導案作成に没頭していました。
しかも専門ではない理科の分野・・・
授業はしっかり準備をしたつもりでも落とし穴があり、なかなかうまくいったと感じることはありません。
学部時代に音楽をしていた時も同じでした。
研究も日常会話でもそうですが、本質を抑え、伝えることがいかに難しいかを感じさせられます。
これからの研究活動とJOCVの活動を通して、物事を見る目と表現力を養っていきたいものです。

さあ、明日からは楽しい実験です。
